The Indian Catholic Youth Movement Kasaragod Vicariate, in association with the Kollangana Unit, successfully organized the Kasaragod Varado Cricket Championship 2026, a 7’s underarm cricket tournament for both men and women, on April 12 at St Thomas Church Ground, Kollangana.
The event commenced with a short inaugural stage program at 9:30 AM, gracefully hosted by Ms Sushmalekha Dsouza, beginning with a prayer. The dignitaries present on the dais included Rev. Fr Rithesh Rodrigues, Director of ICYM Kollangana Unit; Deacon Br Glanson of Kollangana Church; Mr Harick Louis, PPP President; Mr Praveen Dsouza, PPP Secretary; Ms Laveena Crasta, Ayog Secretary; Mr Ronald Chethan, ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate President; Mr Lanson Dsouza, Secretary; and Mr Vivan Dsouza, ICYM Kollangana Unit President.
Rev. Fr Rithesh Rodrigues addressed the gathering and extended his best wishes to all the players. The tournament was officially inaugurated on the ground by Rev. Fr Rithesh Rodrigues, who struck the first ball, with Dn Br Glanson delivering the first bowl.
The matches commenced with great enthusiasm, following a knockout format featuring 15 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams. Players showcased remarkable skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day. After each match, Man of the Match and Woman of the Match awards were presented to recognize outstanding individual performances.
As the matches concluded, the closing ceremony was led by Mr Joel Lancy Crasta, Animator of the ICYM Kollangana Unit, who welcomed the gathering and expressed gratitude to all well-wishers, donors, participants, and especially the members of the Kollangana Unit for their dedicated efforts in organizing the event successfully. A token of appreciation was presented by the ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate Executive Members to the ICYM Kollangana Unit in recognition of their hard work and commitment. Sponsors were also honored with tokens of appreciation.
Rev. Fr Rithesh Rodrigues delivered the closing message, praising the players, congratulating the winners, and highlighting the true spirit of sportsmanship.
The much-awaited results were then announced, with the men’s category declared by Mr Joel Crasta and the women’s category by Ms Neema Dsilva, PRO of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate.

The winners were awarded cash prizes and trophies. The event concluded on a high note, marking the Kasaragod Varado Cricket Championship 2026 as a grand success filled with unity, enthusiasm, and memorable sporting moments.
