ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate AGM, Elections & St. Thomas Vicariate Awards 2026

The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Kasaragod Vicariate, in association with the ICYM Ukkinadka Unit, successfully organized the Annual General Body Meeting, Executive Committee Election for the year 2026–27, and the St. Thomas Vicariate Awards Ceremony for the year 2025–26 on 7th June 2026 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church Hall, Ukkinadka. The programme was held from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 100 youth members representing various ICYM units across the Kasaragod Vicariate.

 

The gathering began with vibrant action songs led by ICYM Central Committee Secretary Ms. Maria D’Silva, creating an energetic and joyful atmosphere among the participants. This was followed by an engaging game session conducted by ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate Treasurer Mr. Stallon D’Souza. A short ice-breaking session further encouraged interaction and fellowship among the youth, helping participants connect and engage actively throughout the day.

 

The Executive Committee Election for the year 2026–27 was subsequently conducted under the guidance of Kasaragod Vicariate Director Rev. Fr. Vishal Monis and Animator Sr. Severine D’Cunha. The election proceedings were overseen by ICYM Mangalore Diocese President Mr. Vijoy and ICYM Central Committee Secretary Ms. Maria D’Silva. They briefed the gathering on the election procedures, rules, and regulations before the commencement of elections.

 

The following members were elected to serve as the ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate Executive Committee for the year 2026–27:

During the programme, Mr. Joel Lancy Kollangana was officially appointed as an Animator of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate.

Following the election, Mr. Joel Lancy Kollangana conducted an informative session on Public Service Commission (PSC) examinations.

 

He highlighted the benefits of government employment, various career opportunities available through PSC examinations, and practical strategies for effective preparation. The session motivated many young participants to consider public service careers and was highly appreciated by the gathering.

A lunch break followed the session, allowing participants an opportunity to interact and network with fellow youth members from different units.

 

After lunch, the Oath-Taking Ceremony of the newly elected office bearers was held. The elected members solemnly pledged their commitment to serve the youth, the Church, and society with sincerity, dedication, and responsibility during their term of office.

The programme then moved into the much-awaited St. Thomas Vicariate Awards Ceremony 2025–26, which celebrated the achievements, commitment, and active participation of ICYM units and members throughout the year. The Awards Programme commenced with a prayer song rendered by the Executive Committee members.

 

The formal stage programme was compered by Ms. Vinitha Crasta, Joint Secretary of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Miss Jenisha D’Souza, Secretary of ICYM Ukkinadka Unit, who extended greetings to all the dignitaries, clergy, religious sisters, guests, and youth members present.

 

The programme was presided over by Very Rev. Fr. Harold Mascarenhas, Vicar Vara of Kasaragod Vicariate. The event was graced by Rev. Fr. Praveen D’Souza, Director of ICYM Mangalore Central, Mr. Denis D’Silva, Young Entrepreneur from Mangalore, and Mr. Joel Lancy, Village Assistant, Kudlu Village Office, Revenue Department, Kasaragod Taluk, as Chief Guests. The Guests of Honour included Rev. Fr. Vishal Monis, Director of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate; Rev. Fr. Gilbert Mascarenhas, Director of ICYM Ukkinadka Unit; Sr. Severine D’Cunha, Animator of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate; Mrs. Neetha Crasta, Parish Council Vice President, Ukkinadka; Mr. Vincent D’Souza, Parish Council Secretary, Ukkinadka; Mr. Paul D’Souza, Secretary of the 21 Pastoral Commissions, Ukkinadka; Miss Reena Pinto, Animator of ICYM Ukkinadka Unit; Mr. Ronald Chethan Amin, President of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate; Mr. Lanson D’Souza, Secretary of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate; Mr. Nihal V. K., President of ICYM Ukkinadka Unit; Miss Jenisha D’Souza, Secretary of ICYM Ukkinadka Unit; and the newly elected office bearers of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate for the year 2026–27.

 

The Annual Report for the year 2025–26 was presented by Mr. Lanson D’Souza, highlighting the various programmes, initiatives, achievements, and activities conducted throughout the year. This was followed by the presentation of the annual statement of accounts by Treasurer Mr. Stallon D’Souza.

 

Former President Mr. Ronald Chethan Amin then addressed the gathering and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all those who had supported and guided him during his tenure. He reflected on the achievements of the past year and encouraged the youth to continue working together for the growth of the Vicariate. Newly elected President Mr. Gladson D’Souza thanked the members for the trust placed in him and sought the continued support and cooperation of all units as he pledged to work for the betterment of the Kasaragod Vicariate.

 

As part of the ceremony, appreciation mementos were presented to the outgoing Vicariate Executive Committee members in recognition of their valuable service. Special recognition was also given to the Presidents and Secretaries of all fourteen active ICYM units for their dedicated leadership and service throughout the year.

 

Under the Laudato Si’ Green Mission Awards 2025–26, ICYM Vorkady Unit, ICYM Maniyampare Unit, ICYM Miyapadavu Unit, ICYM Ukkinadka Unit, and CKYM Kayyar Unit were recognized as Green Champion Units for their commitment to environmental awareness and ecological responsibility.

 

The St. Paul the Apostle Awards for Small Christian Community (SCC) participation were awarded to ICYM Miyapadavu Unit with 20 participations, ICYM Maniyampare Unit with 6 participations, and ICYM Vorkady Unit with 2 participations.

 

The IC-Y-WHAT 2026 Startup and Business Idea Competition recognized innovative and entrepreneurial youth initiatives. Ozwald Roshan Amin secured First Place and the Vicariate Choice Award for HydroGuard. Likhith Joy D’Souza and Loy Kiran D’Souza secured Second Place and the Best Eco-Friendly Startup Award for MC Bricks. Prajwal Gladson D’Souza secured Third Place and the Best Community Impact Startup Award for GoRick. Special Awards were presented to Neema D’Silva, Rosten D’Souza, and Stallon D’Souza for Digital Detox Café, and to Rakesh D’Souza for the Motorcycle Trip App.

 

The Faithful Presence Awards for Unit Meeting Participation were presented to ICYM Miyapadavu Unit with 67% average participation, ICYM Vorkady Unit with 63% average participation, and ICYM Manjeshwar Unit with 47% average participation.

 

The prestigious St. Gonzalo Garcia Awards were presented to outstanding unit leaders. In the Best President category, Prajwal D’Souza of ICYM Vorkady Unit secured first place with 151 events and 1592 points, Melwin D’Souza of ICYM Miyapadavu Unit secured second place with 136 events and 1363 points, and Primal D’Souza of CKYM Kayyar Unit secured third place with 77 events and 1039 points. In the Best Secretary category, Ristan D’Souza of ICYM Vorkady Unit secured first place, Prajwitha D’Souza of ICYM Miyapadavu Unit secured second place, and Astin Rodrigues of CKYM Kayyar Unit secured third place.

 

The St. Thomas Vicariate Awards 2025–26 recognized units for their outstanding overall performance. ICYM Vorkady Unit emerged as the Overall Champions, ICYM Miyapadavu Unit secured the Runners-Up position, and CKYM Kayyar Unit secured the Second Runners-Up position. In the 150 and Below Family Category, ICYM Maniyampare Unit emerged as Winners, ICYM Kasaragod Unit secured the Runners-Up position, and ICYM Bovikana Unit secured the Second Runners-Up position.

 

During the Awards Ceremony, Mr. Joel Lancy Kollangana took the oath as Animator of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate. He was also felicitated for his remarkable achievements and for being honoured with the prestigious Yuva Rathna Award in the Government Sector. The gathering congratulated him on this outstanding accomplishment and wished him success in his new responsibilities.

 

The award winners and prize recipients were announced by Animator Sr. Severine D’Cunha, while the overall champions and major award winners were officially declared by Rev. Fr. Vishal Monis. The recipients were honoured amidst loud applause and appreciation from the gathering.

 

The event concluded on a joyful and inspiring note, celebrating the achievements of the outgoing committee, recognizing the dedication and hard work of active units and members, and welcoming the newly elected leaders who will guide ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate during the year 2026–27.

 

The successful conduct of the programme reflected the vibrant spirit, unity, leadership, faith, and dedication of the youth of Kasaragod Vicariate and reaffirmed ICYM’s mission of forming responsible Christian leaders committed to serving the Church and society.
